Volunteering for Haiti: 3 Organizations That Need Your Help

As a part of the outpouring of support for Haiti and displaced Haitians, many longstanding organizations are revving up their efforts and looking for support. Here are three organizations worthy of your notice, working in the region and abroad.

1. The Edeyo Foundation
Rebuilding the school “École du Bel-Air”, Port-au-Prince.

The Edeyo Foundation has been working since 2007 to build and repair dilapidated schools, provide learning materials, and teach children the value of proper nutrition.

The need to educate does not disappear in troubled times!

Edeyo is working to have a school and cafeteria up and running to provide for 300 students- for this upcoming school year!

2. Yele Haiti Donation Center
South Orange, New Jersey (near New York City, NY).

South Orange, New Jersey-based Claudinette Jean has converted her storefront into a center for Haitian relief efforts. She has already coordinated over 5000 volunteers from New York, New Jersey, Florida, and elsewhere. To volunteer, contact them at volunteer@yele.org with the subject line: "Volunteer in South Orange, NJ" or by calling +1-973-378-3330.

TEMPO Networks Partners with RBC, RBTT and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Haiti Earthquake Relief Effort

TEMPO Networks, LLC (TEMPO) today announced that it is partnering with RBC, RBTT and The International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and Red Crescent Societies to galvanize the wider Caribbean in the relief efforts to assist the Haitian people.

Special accounts have been opened at RBC and RBTT branches throughout the Caribbean for the general public to make donations to the Red Cross Relief Fund. TEMPO, in turn, is developing a promotional campaign aimed at uniting the region and encouraging donations to the relief effort.

“As the world rightly focuses on this disaster, it also focuses on our region’s response. We must, as Caribbean people, be at the forefront of the relief effort and demonstrate to the world that we are a region united….that we are One Caribbean for Haiti,” said Frederick A. Morton, Jr., Founder, Chairman & CEO, TEMPO Networks, LLC. “That is what TEMPO stands for and we are honored to partner with RBC, RBTT and the IFRC in this important endeavour,” said Morton.
