Usain Bolt Withdraws From Adidas Grand Prix
CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Tues. June 1, 2010: After generating tremendous pre-buzz over his participation in the Adidas Grand Prix next weekend, the world`s fastest man, Usain Bolt, will no longer be participating, the event`s organizers said Monday.
Adidas Grand Prix officials on Monday afternoon announced the disappointing news, blaming an injury for the top athlete`s withdrawal so close to the event.
Organizers said they were notified shortly before their public statement by Bolt`s management team, who said the Jamaican runner was suffering from an inflammation of his tendon.
Bolt, in a statement, said he has been advised to rest for the next two to three weeks and `regrettably` will have to miss the June 12th IAAF Diamond League Meet at Randall`s Island in New York.
Bolt first broke the world`s 100-m record at the race and tickets sold quickly this year when his return was announced.
