West Indies Cricket Board Monitoring Jamaica Situation

CaribWorldNews, ST. JOHN`S, Antigua, Tues. May 25, 2010: The West Indies Cricket Board announced on Monday that it is closely monitoring the situation on the ground in Kingston, Jamaica.

The country is the venue for next month`s fifth Digicel One-Day International and first Digicel Test Match between the West Indies and South African cricket teams.

The WICB, in a statement Monday, said it has been in contact with all the major stakeholders and will issue a formal update in the coming days.

The series continues on Friday, May 28 with the 3rd Digicel One Day international at Windsor Park, Dominica

The first Digicel Test match is set for Thursday, June 10th at Sabina Park, Jamaica. Jamaica is under a state of emergency as thugs believed to be loyalists to wanted man, Christopher `Dudus` Coke, exchanged fire with police and shut down Corporate Kingston. Several causalities have already been reported.
